Healing happens more quickly and easily in liminal states of being--in the dawn and dusk between regular awareness and the dream state. If you are drawn to non-ordinary states to connect with your inner healer through breathwork, drumming, or other non-plant and plant modalities, preparation and intention setting are essential to getting the most out of your experience. It may help to have a guide who can help prepare you for the unexpected and support the framing of a clear intention. After your shamanic experience, the work really begins. Integrating our experience often means shaping our world to be more in alignment with the truth revealed in our journey. It may also mean facing and dealing with memories, sensations, emotions, and thoughts in a new way. Integration is key for without diligent attention, we can simply carry on in the way we have been and waste the effort to look deeply at our lives.
